Collaborative Approach to Technical Training
Progressive
tech training opportunities keep young people in the community
and provide opportunities for working people to
upgrade skills and pursue new career options. Area employers
work closely with area schools to develop the workforce skills
needed locally.
Anoka-Ramsey Community College
With campuses in Cambridge and Coon Rapids, the college
offers 14 associate
degree programs, numerous certificate programs and customized
training
for businesses. Located on the scenic Rum River, the Cambridge
campus delivers career programs in computer networking, geographic
information systems, business, nursing and physical therapy.
Specialized Medical Device Industry Training
Anoka-Ramsey has
worked closely with the north metro medical device industry
to develop industry-specific programs in biomedical technology
and clinical research. It also has partnered with area medical
device, high tech and manufacturing firms to fund and develop
customized training programs for incumbent workers. More
than $5.6 million in job training grants have been awarded
to the medical device industry since 1997.
Industrial Tech Training at Pine Technical
College
Pine Technical
College in nearby Pine City works extensively with Cambridge manufacturers
on a variety of manufacturing training programs. Its Northern
Technology Initiative, an East Central Minnesota regional
economic development initiative, enhances the region's ability
to attract high-tech companies.
